Proto Rig – Bitcoin Mining Hardware
The Proto Rig, by Block, Inc., is a purposeful shift away from the “rip and replace” mentality of traditional bitcoin mining hardware. The Rig is designed for a sustainable future by emphasizing modularity, efficiency, and in-place repairs that don’t require specialized tools or taking the entire unit offline. Rig’s core components can be upgraded, repaired, or replaced right on the rack.
Tact worked with the Block team to achieve the Rig’s distinctive aesthetic. We explored functional yet visually appealing geometry options and quickly modeled design concepts based on the various ways technicians might interact with the modular system when accessing or swapping out components. Finally, Tact provided CAD sculpting, finessed details, and prepared manufacturable files.
