Tact worked closely with Block’s design team on CAD sculpting the Bitkey hardware and packaging. One of the original design sketches was to make Bitkey look like a cube (Block) with one of the corners pointing at you. The designers envisioned the optical illusion of a hexagon that rises into a pyramid – a shape that is impossible to make. But we did it anyway: at first glance, the Bitkey seems simple, but on closer inspection, the subtle surface transitions appear jewel-like and are, in fact, quite complicated to achieve the original 2D effect in 3D.
