Tonal came to us with a complex product idea: to consolidate a broad set of revolutionary and intelligent fitness equipment as well as personal coaching into a single device. Clearly, there were significant hurdles to overcome: high forces on articulating fulcrums, long-term durability, electrical connections and communication between moving parts, manufacturability, safety issues, and manufacturing costs. It was difficult for Tonal’s small team to organize and tackle the many obstacles to create a comprehensive set of solutions. There were always one or two problems without a solution, and solving those would create issues elsewhere.
Tonal utilized Tact’s expertise to bolster their team, break the cycle of issues and get the project on a fast path to market.
Tact assisted Tonal by solving the high-level mechanical architecture. We bracketed the product’s problems, put solutions in place, defined manufacturing methods, and took the product from a tangle of confusion to a well-defined direction that Tonal’s team could pick up and run with.
