Composer In-Sink Disposal System
The garbage disposal is perhaps the most neglected kitchen appliance. The founders of the startup Composer saw this as an opportunity to improve user experience, performance, and safety over the existing competitors’ products. Composer One is the first garbage disposal designed to enhance the modern kitchen aesthetic while also enhancing function. Composer worked with world-class design firm Whipsaw, Inc. on a brilliant design, even including the thoughtful touch of a light that illuminates the area under the sink when the cabinet door opens.
Tact worked with the team at Composer to engineer the lever and patented iris mechanism that truly differentiates this product. The lever controls the iris opening with an intuitive and solid yet fluid feel, delivering a premium user experience. When pressed down, the iris fully closes, and the grinder activates safely and quietly. Natural bio-enzymes are then injected into the system to help break down waste, followed by a powerful flush of water to rinse everything out.
Tact developed the novel mechanism and 3 semi-functional appearance prototypes over the winter holidays in time for a successful launch at the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, February 17-19 in Las Vegas. In fact, Composer One was named a Best of KBIS Finalist for Game-Changing Innovation.
